Hi everyone! I'm Alyssa (aka Lyss); blogger and creator of Minimal Lyss!
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I'm a newlywed, coffee lover, dark chocolate fanatic, fitness enthusiast, and travel obsessed. I enjoy dressing up and doing my hair and make-up, but my favorite outfits include a cute workout outfit with a ball cap or jeans and a basic white tee with minimal make-up and a messy bun.
So, what's in the name?
Minimal Lyss comes from the word "minimalist." While I still love the occasional splurge, my life nowadays is all about simplicity and not needing much to be happy. While I don't avoid material things, my goal is to avoid excess. Quality not quantity -- am I right!?
While I am a licensed Cosmetology, I ended my career behind the chair in November 2017. I will always have love for the beauty industry, but being behind the chair became too much for my personal lifestyle. It was too busy for me, a lot of keeping up with the next best thing, and I quickly resented the idea of it all -- because as busy as my life was getting, I was appreciating more of the small and simple things in life.

On August 4th, 2018 I married my best friend, Roberto, and we have since embarked on yet another journey. In September, 2018 we moved abroad to Dublin, Ireland! We will be abroad for two years for his job. And while he is chasing his dreams and developing himself in his career, I'm using these two years to do the same.
Since starting, blogging has opened up so many doors for me and the best being that I got to turn what I love doing into a job. Not only do I now get to focus on building content for Minimal Lyss, I get to be a freelance virtual assistant and content creator for Burgh Brides: A Pittsburgh Wedding Blog and Exhale Events: Pittsburgh Event Planner.
Moving abroad wasn't easy, however doing so allowed me to take this leap to focus on my passion of blogging and creating content. Had we stayed where we were in the states, I never would have focused on this full time. I'm so grateful to be doing something I love and can't wait to see what's in store for years to come.
My goal is to keep this space dedicated to the simple and positive things in life -- whether it be sharing tips that I've learned or experiences I'm grateful for. But, I know not everyday is perfect and I promise to always keep things real as well.
I think it's fair to say with social media comparing ourselves to one another happens way more often than it should. Beneath the surface of any blog or social media post of mine, my hope is that you never compare yourself, but rather feel a sense of empowerment to chase your dreams in whatever way that may be!
I'm so glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoyed learning more about me and my blog. I can't wait to share more of my journey with you and if you like what you see, don't forget to follow along!
Thank you for visiting!
